Good times

Posted by Jason & Sharon Epperly

We had another good visit with Jonas today. It was a little rough in the beginning. The care givers told us he was waiting on us yesterday (we did not go to the orphanage yesterday) and he had been grumpy all morning today. He had created some artwork for us. It shows Mom & Dad with Jonas in the middle. We are all holding hands.

Jonas really likes the computer (wow, is that going to work out). We have been showing him a lot of family photos and playing some games too. I am not sure which he likes better, the pictures or all the buttons on the computer :)

Status update:

We are 3 days into our 10 day waiting period. We will be able to take custody of Jonas on Saturday, February 14th. We have to stay in Gorlovka until Monday in order to get Jonas’s birth certificate. We will then be able to ride the train to Kiev on Monday night and start with our final paperwork steps on Tuesday. Won’t be long until we are on our way back HOME!!!

Some other good news came to us yesterday. Our friend Ira was able to adopt the abandoned baby girl we talked about in a previous post. We were invited over yesterday for the celebration. It was quite the event. Here is me with “Erina” (her new name). Talk about a great home to be in.

We were able to take a trip to the big store (a Ukrainian version of Sam’s club) and we picked  up a few items for Jonas to wear. He wears a ~5T shirt and we are still sorting out pant and shoe sizes.

He was totally meant for this family. He is already a computer nerd :) Watch out Microsoft, here comes Jonas Epperly! We are so glad you have made it into the 10 day waiting period and can't wait to hear about your travel plans. Love you, miss you, and can't wait to squeeze you! The Blevins Bunch

Hi Guys,
I'm so glad that you finally had a chance to post more pictures. What a treat! Loved the picture Jonas made... not only is he going to be the next computer dude, but he's gonna fit in great with the girls and their "crafty" side. Woohoo!
Also, appreciate the size update. So sad that Reid doesn't have any size 5-t shirts.. he's wearing them right now, but never fear, we (the collective group of your friends) will be sure to hook you up!
Love you guys and rest assured that we are counting down the days until you return...

Thanks for the new pics. Looking forward to seeing you actually wearing the hat that Jonas shows you wearing in his picture, Jason. It's so you! Nice to see him thinking of himself as are part of your family. Its much bigger than he thinks. Keep an eye on him with the computer. I have experience with young boys and computers. We are all counting the days with you. Spoke with Morgan and Emma on Wednesday. They were having a snow day and had several projects going. Love you both and praying for continued blessings. Mom and Dad.

Thank you for keeping all of us informed with the blog. I'm glad to know you will soon be on the way back home with Jonas.
I spoke to your sister the other day with an offer of an outing. She has is it all under control over there. I will check in with your Mom next week. I'm so happy for you.

Oh my goodness did you not just melt into a puddle when you saw the picture he made with Mom, Dad & Jonas all holding hands? What a keepsake.

The more you learn about him... the more he seems like the perfect fit.

So excited for all of you as God builds your amazing family.

Wow, guys this is amazing to see this little guys fall in love with you the same way you are falling for him! Love the story of him getting grumpy because you didn't come and how he was waiting for you the next day. And LOVE the picture. What a keepsake!

Praying for the girls. Just heard from Heather that the flu has hit hard. I am praying for Kim to get home without getting sick and for your mom and girls to be protected from getting worse.

I know Sharon it's hard not to be there but you are right where you are supposed to be at this moment. It's so clear that this time in the Ukraine is being used so powerfully by God to knit your hearts together in a way that only He can, during a time when Jonas has your full attention.

Your girls are in great care - the care of God's loving arms and surrounded by family and friends who love them!

Keep posting pictures. We love seeing you all. We missed you so much tonight at House Gathering.

Big hugs and prayers!
Love,
Renee

Glad to hear everything is going well.

On another note I know there are connectivity issues and whatnot but I find it very irritating when I can’t get an update.

Come on, it’s been three days!

Hope to see you all soon.
